In this article, I will walk you through the benefits of yellow watermelon. Have you ever seen a yellow watermelon exists? 

Did you know that the greasy and everlasting tasteful watermelon you know exists in many varieties. Yes of course, you heard me right. Watermelon exists in different colours and tastes. 

In October 2021, we bought a watermelon together with my colleague. After cutting and slicing it into pieces, we were all shocked to find out that the color inside is yellow. 

We wouldn’t have accepted this revelation if it had come from someone else. The color outside the watermelon is normal. However the color inside says otherwise. 

We would have thought that it’s colocynth (a bitter fruit that resembles watermelon from outside). But colocynth is bitter, while the one we tasted is even sweeter than the usual pink/red color we know. 

This revelation led me into a research in order to find out if the yellow fruit is truly a watermelon. After a deep research, I found out that some watermelons exist in yellow form. 

Additionally, I found out that the presence of a chemical substance called lycopene helps fruits like tomatoes and watermelons to turn red. 

Lycopene is a chemical substance that contains antioxidant properties. The absence of lycopene can stop fruits like watermelons, apple, and guava from gaining their famous red color. 

Benefits of a Yellow Watermelon 

Yellow watermelon is a type of watermelon that has a yellow or orange flesh, as opposed to the more common red or pink flesh. Yellow watermelon has several potential health benefits, including:
